Made Sports

When I first came to ONW I knew that I wanted to be a sports broadcaster but didn't know which class to have.  Then I decided to the class SID because knew it was about sports which are my passion. Since I was in video as a sophomore I had already a better background knowledge on the camera and other things.

Since I was a little kid i always wanted to be sports broadcaster  and now I'm getting a chance to full fill it.

Cross Country
One of my first things I did was cover the  Cross Country Team. I did many stories and interviews on the team.  I did a feature story on one of the best runners in the state Cameron Gueldner. Her story was on how a diseases called anemia kept her out of running. Going in to this I didn't really know a whole lot about cross country except the fact that they run.

Feature Stories
Feature stories are stories on people who have an interesting story to tell. I learned a lot about making them. Doing these you have start by coming up with interview questions. Then we will interview them and learn about their story and then put them together in a package. This semester I have made two Feature stories. The first one was on cross county runner Cameron Gueldner  and softball player Regan Hathaway.

Final Cut Pro
I had a good understandment of final cut pro but I learned so much more this year. I learned a lot more short cuts to help edit my videos that I went out and filmed. I made some pretty nice videos from final cut pro.

My Goals
One of my goals is to learn more on commentating because thats what my passion is and what i what to be.
My other goal is to learn the camera more so I can go out and get a lot more shots to make my videos cooler.

Documentary Proposal

Documentary Proposal

A proposal is a thorough explanation of your project. It is created in the pre-production phase to persuade funders, distributors and others to support the project.

  1. Working title: A Snowy Life

  1. Producers: Jackson and Parker

  1. Controlling idea: You must first write a controlling idea that will describe the premise of your documentary. Use the following template:

My documentary is about Jacob Snow and hockey in Kansas. The main conflict is about how Jacob Snow is one of the few people at Olathe Northwest. Ultimately, I want the audience to feel and to understand that that hockey is bigger in Kansas than most people think.

  1. Main characters: Write a paragraph about EACH of your main characters. For each, include:
The main character in the story is Jacob Snow. Jacob Snow is one of few people at Olathe Northwest Highschool that plays hockey. This person is the main character of our story and we will be following him around while he goes from his house to the hockey rink. The character's role is a hockey player from Olathe Northwest High school in Kansas. This character is interesting because he plays a sport that is not very popular in a state that doesn't have a professional team for that sport.

  1. Conflict: What is at issue in the film?
    1. How do people train for hockey in Kansas?
    2. The story will show Jacob playing hockey and scoring a goal.

  1. Plot diagram: ACT I: Jacob will be waking up and getting ready for the day. ACT II: Jacob will be getting ready for the ride to the rink and will be driving to the rink. ACT III: Jacob will be at the rink and playing hockey.

  1. Resolution: the film will end with Jacob scoring a goal and going to an interview of him talking about hockey.
